I'm actually posting this for a friend that doesnt have net access. But anyway... He has a MFJ model MFJ-1224 RTTY interface.. He has the 1224<-->computer taken care of, what he's having problems with is 1224 to his radio..... Which is a Icom Ic-735... (BTW, he has no manual for the 1224).. Thanks for any responses. Ken There are a couple of commercial solutions, Kantronics has one, and TAPR has a data gathering unit that will work with any TNC. These are both dependent on packet radio and report in near real time their readings. If you have the channels you can dedicate to the task, you can use simpler telemetry, a voltage to frequency converter can be used to transmit an analog reading continously. What might be best, however, is a single board computer that can store readings and report them in a batch when you interrogate it via packet radio. That way you can have a bunch of sensor stations all sharing a single frequency. Just got my call in the mail about 2 weeks ago, and I'm interested in getting into packet.. Radio wise I've got a HTX-202. Main question is can someone point me towards an inexpensive way to get a taste of packet. a TNC kit or used tnc.. Would like for it to be external and small.. Getting a Hp 100lx palmtop I'd like to be able to connect it to.. Thanks for any pointers.. Keith turner. If I ever get time to finish it and make it a little more general, I will make it available somehow. Finding the time is a real problem though :( (I'm typing this from the plant on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, while waiting for a VMS upgrade to complete) It's kind of neat though, It does the basic connect / disconnect stuff now, with buttons. Even has a drop-down for connect that can do an MH to the TNC! It uses a package called Modemware to manage the comm port I/O. It would be tough without that. I'd like to do a logging program too.
